Xherdan Shaqiri officially pens down to sign for Olympique Lyon for a whopping 16m pounds from Liverpool following the medical which has been done successfully today as he sets to be one of the keys and integral players for Lyon. He also becomes the club’s second signing in less than a week after the arrival of Chelsea’s former left-back Emerson on loan. He will add creativity and more agility to the squad as they look to provide more depth to the squad with the inclusion of the former Swiss International.
Olympique Lyon was very happy to confirm the news of Swiss International forward Xherdan Shaqiri.
The former Liverpool winger, 29, has now joined on a three year permanent deal for a fee of up to 11m and an additional 5m of the figure which will be considered as bonuses and incentives given. The fans erupted with this news as Shaqiri looks forward to a new chapter in Olympique Lyon as they can’t wait to see him hitting the ground. Xherdan Shaqiri made his debut way back in 2009 when he played for FC Basel as he provided a major impact as he scored a much-needed winning goal against Manchester United by beating them 2-1. He also won the Swiss Cup as well considering him one of the youngest dangerous wingers the fans have ever witnessed.
Kosovo born forward has played for an impressive list of clubs including Bayern Munich and Inter Milan as well as Stoke City before joining Liverpool way back in 2018. Shaqiri played 63 times for the Anfield club, scoring eight goals and adding nine assists across all competitions.
Xherdan Shaqiri has proved to be a very versatile winger who provides experience and depth to the squad. He also featured in several international competitions as well as the U-21 team for Switzerland. Potentially on his arrival, alongside Emerson, Lyon will be much happy after going through a tough start to the season where the main goal could be to have a great season in Ligue 1 as well as the European League.
