Infosys CEO Sahil Parekh reached the Finance ministry to meet Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman. Parekh was summoned by the minister to explain to her why Infosys has not resolved glitches in the government’s new e-filing portal developed by the IT firm.
The website “www.incometax.gov.in‘ had been unavailable since August 21. The CEO was called to explain the reason why the glitches were not resolved.
“Ministry of Finance has summoned Sh Salil Parekh, MD&CEO of Infosys on 23/08/2021 to explain to hon’ble FM as to why even after 2.5 months since the launch of new e-filing portal, glitches in the portal have not been resolved. In fact, since 21/08/2021 the portal itself is not available,” the income tax department tweeted on Sunday.

On Sunday, Infosys had informed via Twitter that the maintenance of the portal has concluded and that the site is live.
“The emergency maintenance of the IncomeTax India portal has concluded and the portal is live. We regret any inconvenience caused to taxpayers,” Infosys India Business tweeted.
The IT portal which was launched on June 7 is still facing technical glitches. Users had complained that certain options in the website was either not available or was working slow.

On June 22, Sitharaman had called a meeting to review the key issues faced by users while accessing the portal. As reported by LiveMint, the minister had then asked Infosys to address all issues without further loss of time, improve their services, and redress grievances on priority as it was impacting taxpayers adversely.
