The former South African fast bowler Allan Donald has claimed that India’s bowling star Jasprit Bumrah is one of the leading fast bowlers in the cricketing world. He appreciated Bumrah’s skill level and the way he can adapt across all three formats of cricket.

In a Youtube interview with Neel Khagram on Cricket Life Stories (Youtube interview channel), Donald discussed his career as a player and while lending some coaching tips to the viewers.

The 54-year-old was asked about his current lot of fast bowlers in the world which he replied by stating “If I have to talk about the guys who surprise me… the New Zealand players. Since 2011, they have really shown the world their quality. [Neil] Wagner’s there, [Trent] Boult, and [Kyle] Jamieson came out of nowhere. As for South Africa, [Anrich] Nortje will go a long way. The Australians have a conveyer belt full of them.”

“India, of course, are in the mix too. Under Virat Kohli’s captaincy, young Bumrah has come a long way. He is just a sensation… in all the formats,” he added.

Allan Donald recalled from his interaction with the current Indian cricket team captain Virat Kohli back in 2015. He mentioned how Virat knew the direction in which the Indian style of cricket was heading and also told the South African that he (Virat Kohli) believes that India will become the number 1 test side in the world. “He was not wrong,” said Allan Donald in the interview at a time where the Indian side put up a stunning display against the English on their home soil. The 151-run test victory solidified Virat Kohli’s vision of team India.

The 27-year-old Jasprit Bumrah had broken through the ranks earning himself a national team call up on 26th January in 2016 against the Aussies. Since then Bumrah has gone on to pick up 95 wickets in 22 test games, 108 wickets in 67 ODIs and 59 wickets in 49 T20I matches for India.
