Chaos ensues at Kabul airport as hundreds flock to the airport to leave Afghanistan due to its current political landscape. At least five people were killed in the airport as people tried to enter aeroplanes forcibly, sources told Reuters.

US troops who were deployed to Kabul to manage the situation at the airport earlier fired gunshots into the air to disperse the crowd.

According to witnesses, it’s not clear whether the victims were killed because of the gunshots or stampede, Reuters reported.

Earlier it was notified to airmen that flights cannot be operated due to the closure of Afghan airspace in Kabul airport.

Officials were not available to comment on the deaths, Reuters reported.
