Manchester United storm past Leeds United in their season opener to get their 2021-2022 Premier League campaign underway with a 5-1 win at Old Trafford.

The home team took the lead in the 30th minute of the first half through the Portuguese midfielder Bruno Fernandes. Paul Pogba collets the ball from his teammate McTominay to lay it up with a pass through the Leeds defence line for Bruno to collect and have a crack at goal which Meslier was able to get a hand to but unable to stop it from crossing the line.

Both teams enter the tunnel after the first half came to a close with the game 1-0 in the favour of Manchester United. Although Leeds had been threatening on occasions the United defence was able to keep them at bay to end the half.

The second half saw the visiting team make it all square just 3 minutes into the restart with Luke Ayling scoring an absolute stunner after he lined up his shot from 25 yards out to find the top-left corner of the goal. The 29-year-old right-back scored his fourth goal as a Leeds player.

The early action continued as the red devils were quick to respond to the pressure put on them. Mason Greenwood found the net 4 minutes after Leeds has come level from a Paul Pogba assist. 2 minutes later same old Burno with the same old first-half story scoring from another Pogba assist. This was Pogba’s third assist of the game having dominated midfield the entire game. The link-up between the Portugues and the Frenchmen is something the United fans have been waiting to witness.

Almost halfway through the second half United looked to have taken the game back in control since coinciding at the restart. They went on to add two more goals making it 5-1. Bruno topped his performance with another goal in the game to make it a hattrick on the first game of the season. Pogba was again in the mix of providing his teammate with assists having found the Brazillian Fred at the 68th minute to end the game have 4 assists to his name.
