On Sunday, the Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) through a notification announced that the schools for Class 10 and 12 in the national capital would reopen partially from August 9, i.e., tomorrow.
Class 10 and 12 students are now allowed to visit schools for work related to admissions including counselling, guidance as well as board examinations-related practical activities.
Furthermore, the DDMA notice said, “Health checkups and referral services situated in schools or conducted from there can resume. Children of all age may visit these centres accompanied by their parents or guardians.”
The Directorate of Education will issue guidelines regarding this matter with the aim that COVID-19 protocols are followed for the safety of children.
The authority has also permitted weekly markets to open across the city from tomorrow with a rider that the vendors and visitors should be following appropriate COVID-19 behaviour. However, roadside weekly markets are not allowed.
On July 28, Deputy CM of Delhi, Manish Sisodia had invited suggestions from stakeholders including teachers and parents over the issue of reopening of schools. Sisodia ended up receiving more than 35,000 suggestions and had said that he would come up with a decision soon.
According to the health bulletin, presently, Delhi has 264 containment zones.
The national capital had recorded 72 fresh cases of COVID-19 while 22 patients recovered from the virus on Saturday.
