The competition between the San Diego Padres and Washington was discontinued in the sixth inning following a shooting outside National Park that provoked echoes of gunfire in the stadium that incited fans to scramble for safety in the channel.
The shooting was due to the interchange of gunfire among people in two cars resulted in injuring three people as per Ashan Benedict, the Metropolitan Police Departments executive assistant police chief.
Among the shots people, one came out to be a woman who was accompanying the game. She was hit when she was outer to the stadium, said the police chief. Her wounds were not series and weren’t supposed life-threatening.
Two people who were in one of the cars walked in later into a local hospital. They were hurt with wounds caused by gunshot and were being queried by the detectives, said the police chief Benedict while the detectives still were trying to track down another car that was accused in the shooting.
The shots of guns affected the fans and resulted in fear inside the stadium that compelled some of them sneaked for cover, protecting underneath tables and behind seats as hosts cautioned everyone to stay inside the park.
The Padres had just held for the field for the bottom of the sixth inning but were interrupted by various noisy pops that were listened to from the left side of the field. They dominated 8-4 while the game was forced to be suspended and will be continued Sunday afternoon followed by the perennial planned game. The existence of expanded police might be expected at the game.
