Seven-time Grand Slam champion Barbora Krejcikova has advanced to the Prague Open final overcoming China’s Xinyu Wang 6-1, 6-2 on Saturday at the Centre Court. Roland Garros champion Krejcikova forms up an all-Czech final clash against eight-seeded Tereza Martincova.

Czech Martincova had conquered ninth-seeded Greet Minnen of Belgium 6-3, 6-4 in the further semifinal to reach her maiden WTA final clash against Barbora tomorrow at the Centre Court around 4:30 pm IST.

Krejcikova is aiming for her third WTA crown in her fifth final having already succeeded in winning the title at Strasbourg and the French Open.  She is using the hard-court championships to warm up for the upcoming Tokyo Olympics.

Barbora Krejcikova with Katerina Siniakova had contended their second French Open women’s doubles title, overthrowing Bethanie Mattek-Sands and Iga Swiatek in the final of the Roland Garros tournament of this year on July 13, a day after she had attained the women’s singles crown as well at the same major tournament on July 12 beating Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova of Russia in Paris at the Philippe-Chatrier to become the first Czech women’s champion since 1981.

2018 French Open and Wimbledon champion Krejcikova earned the mixed doubles titles at the Australian Open in the year 2019, 2020 and 2021 and is the only fourth active female player to have gained a Grand Slam title in all three varied disciplines after the US sisters Serena Williams and Venus Williams and Samantha Stosur.
