British professional Murray had returned to singles action with a victory over Georgian Nikoloz Basilashvili in four sets followed by overcoming German qualifier Oscar Otte in five sets at the Centre Court lights. Murray who has not been lucky with his health won back to back matches at a Grand Slam for the first time since his hip issues that started in 2017.
Two times champion was disappointed with how he played but happy about the time he spent in the atmosphere after his return. The 34-year-old Scottish said: “there is a part of me that feels a bit like I have put in so much work the last three months and ultimately I did not play how I wanted and expected. It’s like, is it worth it?”
“Some part of me feels like yes it is because I made some great memories while I played in some brilliant environment. I am just not satisfied with how I played. So, unless I and my team can find a way of keeping me on the court consistently and allow me to practice the way I need to compete with these guys, that’s when the discussions about what will I do next will come in,” he added.
The Scottish left the court waving while he was given a standing ovation as his dream of the third title got shattered.
