England’s A match against Scotland A has been cancelled because of further COVID-19 positive cases in the Scottish team. The game was scheduled for today at the Mattioli Woods Welford Road, Leicester and will not be rearranged. Those who bought tickets for the game will receive an automated refund in the coming days.
England will now focus on their next two upcoming Test matches against USA on 4 July and Canada on 10 July. Both the games will be played at Twickenham Stadium. The team will be training at Mattioli Woods Welford Road before they join the group at Pennyhill Park on June 28.
Eddie Jones, head coach of the England national team will be announcing the updated squad for the Test matches on 28 June.
“We are obviously disappointed because of not being able to play this match and particularly in front of a great crowd in Leicester. However, the safety and well-being of all of our squad and supporters is the most important thing and we understand this. We wish Scotland the very best,” said Jonas.
Scotland had lost nine players for Sunday’s international against England after one member of the team tested positive for Covid-19. They continue to follow the health guidance aligned through Scottish Rugby’s Threat Management Group.
