Poovachal Khader, a veteran Malayalam lyricist took his last breath at the age of 72. He lost his life due to Covid19 complications in Thiruvananthapuram. They lyricist was been admitted to the Government Medical College for the treatment of Covid 19 and pneumonia. Unfortunately, he died due to cardiac arrest, on Tuesday. His last rites will be performed at Poovachal Jama Masjid, on Tuesday.
The lyricist penned some beautiful and romantic songs that were a great hit, during 1970s and 80s. He has written nearly 1500 songs for almost 400 movies in his career span of 50 years. Natha Nee Varum Kalocha (Chamaram), Poomaname (Nirakoottu), Shararanthal Thiri Thaazhhum, Aadya Samaagama Lajjayil, Sindoora Sandhyaykku Mounam, Ente Janman Neeyeduthu, Etho Janma Kalpanayi (Palangal), Naanamaaunno and Anuraagini Itha En (Oru Kudakkeezhil) were some of his evergreen and hit songs.
Legendary singers like, KJ Yesudas, P Jayachandran, Vani Jairam, S Janaki, KS Chithra, P Susheela, P Madhuri, Unni Menon sung several songs written by Khader. He has worked with filmmakers like, Bharathan, Padmarajan, P N Menon, K G George and I V Sasi .
Fans and friends mourned the demise of the lyricist. Even the Chief Minister of Kerala mourned the demise of Poovachal Khader. According to India TV News, CM Pinarayi Vijayan stated, “He will probably go down as the person who wrote the maximum lyrics for the film industry. He will be very badly missed”.
His first movie as a lyricist was Kaattuvithachavan but his first released movie was Chuzhi in 1973.
