VisionQuest is Marvel Studios’ next big Disney+ series. It arrives in 2026. It is a direct sequel to WandaVision. But it will feel very different. Marvel has already confirmed major changes.
WandaVision launched the MCU Multiverse Saga in 2021. It became a cultural moment overnight. Fans had never seen a superhero story told that way before. Its impact still shows across the MCU today. VisionQuest will close the trilogy that includes WandaVision and Agatha All Along. But it is not repeating the same formula.
The biggest change is the format. WandaVision used sitcoms from different TV eras. Each episode jumped through decades. VisionQuest drops that idea completely. The story will stay grounded in the present day. It will follow a straight timeline. The focus is on White Vision after escaping the Hex. The tone will be more traditional and easier to follow.
There is also a major recast. Tommy Maximoff is back. But he is now grown up. Ruaridh Mollica will play him. Billy Maximoff was already recast in Agatha All Along. Tommy is expected to reunite with Vision. His soul may return in a new body. Fans expect to finally see his Speed powers in action.
Several familiar voices return too. James Spader is back as Ultron. James D’Arcy returns as JARVIS. New faces join as well. Emily Hampshire plays EDITH. Orla Brady plays FRIDAY. These AI characters will appear in human form. Elizabeth Olsen is not expected to return as Wanda. Agatha Harkness will also sit this one out.
The emotional focus also shifts. WandaVision was about grief. Wanda was mourning Vision and her children. VisionQuest is about trauma. More specifically, generational trauma. Paul Bettany has confirmed this. The story explores fathers and sons. Vision is searching for identity. He is trying to understand who he really is. He exists in between states. That struggle drives the series.
Another big change is behind the scenes. Jac Schaeffer is not involved this time. She created WandaVision and Agatha All Along. Her voice shaped this corner of the MCU. VisionQuest is the first chapter without her input. Fans may notice the difference. It does not mean the show is in trouble. But it is a clear shift.
VisionQuest stars Paul Bettany, James Spader, Todd Stashwick, and Faran Tahir. The story revisits old MCU enemies. It focuses on memory, identity, and purpose. The series is expected to stream on Disney+ later this year.
