Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy S26 Plus may not bring many surprises. New reports suggest the phone could stay very close to last year’s Galaxy S25 Plus in terms of hardware and design. If true, this would make the S26 Plus one of the least changed upgrades in recent years.

Production of the phone is expected to begin soon. That timing may explain why Samsung chose to stick with familiar components instead of making bold changes.

Samsung Galaxy S26 Plus display and design details

The Galaxy S26 Plus is expected to use the same 6.66-inch display found on the Galaxy S25 Plus. Earlier rumours hinted at a newer OLED panel, but Samsung reportedly backed away from that plan.

There could still be small internal tweaks to the screen layers. These changes would not be obvious to users. Visually, the display experience is expected to feel almost the same.

Samsung reportedly had limited development time. At one point, the company planned to remove the Plus model entirely. The idea was to simplify the lineup by introducing a Pro and Edge model instead. That plan was later scrapped, and Samsung returned to its traditional series layout.

This last-minute decision likely forced Samsung to reuse existing designs.

Galaxy S26 Series launch and what else to expect

The Galaxy S26 series is expected to launch near the end of February, with sales beginning in March. The schedule may vary slightly by region, but major markets are expected to follow a similar timeline.

The Galaxy S26 Plus is expected to share the same camera setup as the base Galaxy S26. Battery size could see a small increase, possibly reaching around 4,900mAh. The refresh rate is expected to remain at 120Hz.

Samsung is also expected to continue using two different processors. Some regions may get a Snapdragon chip, while others receive Exynos.

Meanwhile, the Galaxy S26 Ultra is where most upgrades are expected. That model may get faster charging, improved wireless charging, a newer OLED panel, and minor camera refinements. The Plus model, however, appears positioned as a safe and familiar option.

If these reports hold true, the Galaxy S26 Plus will feel more like a refresh than a true upgrade. Samsung seems focused on stability rather than innovation for this model.
