Marvel’s Spider-Man is not coming to Xbox anytime soon. Insomniac Games has made that clear.

A fan recently asked on social media if the game could launch on Xbox. The studio gave a short reply. Not likely.

That simple answer disappointed many Xbox players. The question was not random. Both PlayStation and Xbox have started sharing more games in recent years. Microsoft even brought Halo to PlayStation in a surprising move. Sony has also allowed some of its published titles to appear on Xbox.

Because of this shift, some fans believed Spider-Man could follow. There was even a small spark of hope when Marvel Rivals featured an Insomniac-style Spider-Man skin in a game available on Xbox. It felt like a tiny step toward something bigger. But that does not seem to mean anything now.

For the moment, Spider-Man remains tied to PlayStation consoles.

Insomniac future games and PlayStation exclusivity

Insomniac is busy with big projects. Marvel’s Wolverine is finally set to release later this year. Spider-Man 3 is also in development, according to Peter Parker’s voice actor. The studio has not officially revealed it yet, but the work is happening. Leaks also suggest a Venom spin off could arrive in the future.

Even with all this expansion, Xbox is not part of the plan right now.

It is true that Spider-Man games have moved to PC. Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 launched on PC in 2025. The first game and Miles Morales also received PC versions years after their PlayStation debut. That move made some fans think Xbox could be next.

But Sony has followed a clear pattern. It brings its biggest titles to PC. It does not bring them to rival consoles. God of War and The Last of Us followed the same path. They landed on Steam. They never went to Xbox.

Spider-Man is one of PlayStation’s strongest brands. All three games rank among the best selling PlayStation titles in the United States. That kind of success gives Sony a reason to keep the franchise exclusive. Big exclusives help sell consoles. Spider-Man helped push PS5 sales. The next game could easily help promote the PS6.

Exclusives are not gone. PlayStation still has major titles planned that are not coming to Xbox. Wolverine is one of them. Other big projects are also lined up for 2026.

Things can always change in the gaming world. Insomniac once said Spider-Man would never come to PC. That clearly changed. So an Xbox version can never be ruled out forever.

But right now, the message is simple. Marvel’s Spider-Man is staying on PlayStation. Xbox players should not expect a web swinging surprise anytime soon.
