To all Cryo Sleep Pod fans: Alien Earth Season 2 has been officially renewed! However, it will not premiere in May of 2026. As we have confirmed with FX and its creator, Noah Hawley, who has signed a brand-new overall deal, production of this show does not begin until Mid-2026 in London, so please do not expect to see any episodes before their release.
The industry math is quite clear on this one: once filming starts in 2026, the show must go through post-production, and because Alien requires extensive visual effects, these shows, simply put, take time. Most analysts are projecting that Season 2 will not premiere until sometime late in 2026 or more likely early 2027 on FX/Hulu/Disney+.
Where does this confusion originate? It seems that there were some leaked schedules regarding production/filming, which led some countdown websites to incorrectly publish the filming start time as a “premiere date”; this is what has caused so much confusion. FX has not released an official premiere date as of this moment, and we strongly suggest that you consider all of the months associated with this announcement a rumor until FX announces otherwise.
Why does this matter? Well, Season 1 of the show has received great critical acclaim and has attracted very high viewing numbers; if Season 2 is rushed, it could sacrifice all of the practical effects and tension that this franchise has built.
For now, expect casting information to be released soon; we can already confirm that Peter Dinklage has been mentioned as having a “significant role” in the new season. Additionally, Hawley has indicated that there will be new creature types, in addition to new, unmapped backstories for long-held “Xenomorph” tropes. He also indicated the ongoing struggle between corporate greed and survival in the new season.
Bottom Line: In May 2026, filming begins. Premiere date is TBD, probably 2027. Hang tight!
