Iran has denied the claims made by the U.S. of its involvement in attack carried out by Houthis in the Red Sea on commercial ships.

Deputy Foreign Minister of Iran on Saturday debunked the claims as he said that Houthi group was acting on its own.

The Houthis, who control large parts of Yemen, including its capital Sanaa, have been launching series of attacks on commercial ships in the Red Sea. They have described it as their way of showing supporting towards Palestine, amid the ongoing war between Israel and Hamas. Up till now, they have targeted more than 10 ships and have launched at least 100 drone attacks, as per Pentagon.

Earlier on Friday, the White House alleged that Iran’s support towards Houthis includes both weapons and tactical intelligence, as it presented a newly declassified evidence linking Tehran to the attacks.

“The fact that certain powers, such as the Americans and the Israelis, suffer strikes from the resistance movement… should in no way call into question the reality of the strength of the resistance in the region,” Iran’s deputy foreign minister Ali Bagheri told Mehr news agency.
