Hours before Chinese leader Xi Jinping met U.S. president Joe Biden, its state media took a dig at former president Donald Trump.

The state run newspaper The Global Times published an editorial on Wednesday knocking Trump for imposing sanctions on Chinese nationals in 2019 over a dispute about the flow of fentanyl into the United States from China, an action that led to fraying tensions between the two countries.

Biden and Xi are expected to meet one another at an undisclosed location in San Francisco on the sidelines of APEC Summit, which comprises of 21 countries. The leaders will be meeting for the first time in a year and are expected to work towards betterment of their relations with one another.

The publication’s editorial largely talked about the common interest between the two countries and labelled it as “extensive.” It added that it is normal for the two nations to have “bumps and wrinkles” in their relationship.
