The highly anticipated Apple Intelligence feature is expected to arrive on iPhone 16 devices starting October 28, when iOS 18.1 officially launches. Though Apple initially promoted the iPhone 16 as having cutting-edge capabilities, the Apple Intelligence suite has not yet been integrated. This will change with the release of the iOS update, bringing advanced AI-driven features to the phone for the first time.
According to reports, the iOS 18.1 update will introduce several new tools, including AI-powered notification summaries that will provide users with more personalized and efficient alerts. Although the focus is on this feature, beta testing of iOS 18.1 has already shown several additional improvements.
For instance, Siri will now be better at understanding users, even when they mispronounce or stumble over words. Another enhancement is the introduction of new writing tools, as well as a visually striking rainbow-coloured glowing edge graphic that appears when Siri is activated on both phones and iPads.
Apple Intelligence will only be available on the iPhone 15 Pro and later models, but it’s already been rolled out in beta versions for Macs and iPads featuring Apple silicon chips (M1 and newer). As a result, even users without the latest iPhones may get a chance to experience Apple’s AI-driven innovations.
As for the future, Apple Intelligence is rumoured to be included in the next iteration of the iPhone SE. However, some of the more prominent features of Apple Intelligence, such as Siri’s ability to perform tasks across multiple apps by using personalized information for contextual actions, have not yet been seen in beta releases. It is expected that these functions will be launched in March of next year. Other features, like Apple’s Image Playground and the Genmoji tool, which creates AI-generated avatars, are expected to be available by December.
