Tonight on Strictly Come Dancing, the remaining couples danced to hits from some of the biggest musical legends of all time. But for Ellie Goldstein, there was an extra-special surprise. After she and professional partner Vito Coppola performed a salsa to a medley of Spice Girls songs, she received a personal message from her favourite Spice Girl, Emma Bunton.

Claudia Winkleman introduced the surprise, saying, “Ellie, we know you love the Spice Girls. We know you love Baby Spice. Somebody really, really wants to send you a message.” Ellie looked completely stunned and told Vito, “I can’t believe that!”

The message from Emma Bunton played for Ellie and the audience. Emma said she had been watching Ellie every week and called her her favourite, adding, “I think you are a superstar. Thank you so much for dancing to our songs. The other girls are sending all their love and good luck with the scores!”

Ellie scored 28 points from the judges for her routine, but the personal message made the moment unforgettable. Vicky Pattison also received a special treat later in the show, getting a recorded message from Cheryl after she and her partner Kai Widdrington danced to Cheryl’s 2009 hit Fight for This Love.

This week’s episode marked the annual Icons Week, the first since Claudia Winkleman and Tess Daly announced they will be stepping down from the show at the end of the season. The night featured music from legends like Beyoncé, Dolly Parton, and Johnny Cash, while judges Craig Revel Horwood, Motsi Mabuse, Shirley Ballas, and Anton Du Beke embraced the theme by dressing up as John Lennon, Grace Jones, Elvis Presley, and David Bowie.

It was a night full of sparkle, incredible performances, and unforgettable moments for the contestants.
