President Donald Trump announced Friday that he is nominating Sergio Gor to serve as the next U.S. Ambassador to India, while also taking on the role of Special Envoy for South and Central Asian Affairs.
Gor is currently the Director of Presidential Personnel, a position in which Trump said he has overseen the hiring of nearly 4,000 “America First Patriots” across federal departments and agencies. Trump credited him with helping fill more than 95% of government roles in what he described as record time. Gor will remain in his current White House role until his confirmation.
Trump praised Gor as “a great friend” who has worked closely with him for years, including on presidential campaigns. Gor has also published Trump’s books and, according to Trump, managed one of the largest Super PACs backing his political movement.
In his Truth Social post, Trump stressed the importance of having someone he “can fully trust” represent the U.S. in what he described as “the most populous Region in the World.” He said Gor will play a key role in advancing his administration’s agenda in South and Central Asia.
