The second season of The Hunting Wives has been confirmed for production and will be available on Netflix from 2025 to 2026.
The series, based on May Cobb’s novel, tells an intricate story of obsession, secret, seduction, and murder among a group of affluent socialites from East Texas.
It started streaming on Netflix on July 21st and quickly became a global success after achieving over twenty million views in the show’s first five weeks in the global English-language top 10 and will enter into production for a second season in September 2022 as a Netflix original series.
The Hunting Wives Season 2: What we know about the release window
On November 17, 2025, filming for Season 2 (8 episodes) began in and around Charlotte/Gastonia (used as a substitute for East Texas) until early March 2026. Filming was completed around the wrap party on March 1. The second episode is currently being edited in post-production. Netflix has indicated that the second season will be released sometime in 2026 as part of its “Next on Netflix 2026” promotions with most sources reporting a second-half 2026 premiere (most likely late summer or fall) following the typical timeframes for drama shows to finish post-production and based on the first Season’s July premiere date.
The Hunting Wives Season 2: Plot details
As Season 2 continues right on from where we left off in Season 1 (with some time passing), it is an all-new story that does not strictly follow the ending of the book. Here is what Netflix has officially written about the second season (logline): “Sophie and Margo are no longer friends, but soon find themselves back together when new enemies and secrets from their past emerge. While they are both playing their own games with one another, the question remains as to whether or not they are the hunted or the hunter.”
This season, there will be multiple twists and turns, mystery and murder elements through seduction and scandal; plus, there will continue to be a strong and volatile relationship between Margo and Sophie within the lavish Maple Brook scene. Rebecca Cutter, creator of the show, also shared last season that it will be another “sexy, twisted, batshit” ride with a central “who done it” and Margo/Sophie dynamic driving the storyline. Brittany Snow teased that it would be “as insane” as Season 1 and continue to push the limits further.
