1000-lb Sisters returned to TLC on January 6, 2025, with Season 8. Fans didn’t have to wait long for drama. In the very first episode, titled Abysmal to the Wedding, the tension between sisters Amy and Tammy was already intense.

Amy and Tammy’s relationship has been strained since the last season. They are drifting apart more with each passing day. Amy called Tammy a “deadbeat mom” and “toxic” and said she is done with her. The fight between them was serious and emotional.

Even with all the drama, both sisters are trying to move forward with their lives. They are focusing on relationships, weight loss, and personal growth. Tammy has lost 500 lbs through weight-loss and skin-removal surgery. She is now down to 185 lbs. Her transformation has been huge, and she is proud of the progress.

Tammy shocked viewers when she revealed she would not attend Amy’s wedding. Amy chose a haunted location for the ceremony, partly to annoy Tammy. Amy’s engagement to Brian came very quickly. They had only been together for a month when they got engaged. The relationship moved fast, and the engagement was longer than the courtship. Amy even got into legal trouble because of Brian. Marijuana was found in his car, which led to Amy being arrested and receiving two years of probation.

Tammy’s weight loss has caused new tensions. Amy feels Tammy has become full of herself since losing weight. Tammy has been standing up for herself, gaining confidence, and working on her life. Amy, on the other hand, feels jealous and overlooked. She is unhappy with her own journey and has gained weight after having two kids. Both sisters lash out when they are unhappy, which has made the tension worse.

Amy has also been dealing with a messy divorce from her first husband, Michael. She fought hard for custody of her kids while managing financial and legal struggles. After securing primary custody, she met Brian and decided to get married. Amy wanted a big, dramatic wedding, even if no one showed up from her family. Only her new friend Lily, who replaced Tammy in her life, attended.

Meanwhile, Tammy is exploring her new life. She is considering moving in with her girlfriend, Andrea, and wants to get a job, possibly at an animal shelter. Tammy hasn’t talked to Amy in two months. She is trying to focus on herself and her happiness.

Other family members are dealing with their own struggles. Chris is trying to lose weight to qualify for skin-removal surgery. His wife is struggling with weight loss while trying to start a catering business. Misty and Mandy have lost significant weight too. Misty’s birthday party was held at their dad’s house, a neutral space where no fights were allowed.

The first episode ends with Amy’s wedding plans falling through. The sanatorium she wanted is no longer available, and Brian doesn’t seem concerned. Amy feels her family is making a joke out of her big day, so she leaves before a fight can start.

Season 8 is off to a dramatic start, and fans can expect more tension, family conflicts, and personal transformations in the coming episodes.
