Tylor Chase, known for playing Martin Qwerly on Nickelodeon’s Ned’s Declassified School Survival Guide, is currently living on the streets in California. According to local police, he has repeatedly turned down offers of housing and treatment. Officers say they interact with him at least once a week as part of ongoing outreach efforts, noting that his condition appears poor.
Ryan Railsback, Public Information Officer for the Riverside Police Department, said the department is very familiar with Chase. Their Public Safety Engagement Team regularly checks on him and offers support, including temporary shelters, mental health services, and drug and alcohol treatment programs. Police stressed that while they provide help, it’s ultimately Chase’s choice whether to accept it.
Authorities confirmed that Chase is not wanted for any crimes and has no outstanding warrants. They describe his behavior as calm, polite, and cooperative during interactions, contrasting with how some unhoused individuals might respond. Officers continue to check on his well-being, but assistance remains voluntary unless a safety concern arises.
Chase’s situation drew wider attention after videos of him looking disheveled on the streets of Riverside circulated on social media. In one video, when asked if he was from Disney, he clarified, “Nickelodeon, I was on ‘Ned’s Declassified School Survival Guide.’” Police said he was aware of the videos and did not object to them being shared.
The news has sparked concern from fans and former co-stars. Lindsey Shaw, Devon Werkheiser, and Danielle Curtis Lee called the situation “shocking and heartbreaking” on a podcast. Shaun Weiss, known for Mighty Ducks and who has spoken publicly about his own struggles and recovery, reportedly offered Chase a bed at a San Clemente recovery facility he is connected with.
