EXCLUSIVE: Family Day 2020: Himani Shivpuri admits work is her passion, asserts, ‘cannot let aspirations overrule duties’

Actress Himani Shivpuri has been a part of the Bollywood repertoire for a long time now. She has featured in prominent roles throughout her entire oeuvre and she has done pretty well as far as her film career is concerned. One cannot outdo her contribution to television as well. The veteran has been a part of umpteen TV shows. Currently, she is also seen on the &TV’s television series Titled Happu Ki Ultan Paltan wherein she plays the role of Katori aka Amma Singh.

It wouldn’t be an exaggeration to state that whenever she has appeared on screen, her performances have always lit up the celluloid.

Himani is well-known for her remarkable roles in films like Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge (1995), Khamoshi (1996), Hero No. 1 (1997), Deewana Mastana (1997), Bandhan (1998), Kuch Kuch Hota Hai (1998), Biwi No.1 (1999), Hum Saath-Saath Hain (1999), Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham… (2001) and Main Prem Ki Diwani Hoon (2003).

Shivpuri was born in Dehradun and got married to the Kasmhiri Pandit actor Gyan Shivpuri who passed away in the year 1995. She has a son Katyayani.

The actress says, her work surely was important to her. So, did she prioritize her work over her family? “There are very things which are dear to me whom I can term as important. My family and work both fall under this category. But if you ask me to choose among the two, family supersedes everything. Quipped she.

In the world we live in, it is difficult to have everything our way. Himani seconds that thought. All of us are human and we have a craving to cull out our own individuality [Astitva] in the face of the world, some are able to make it and some aren’t. There are many in the film industry who have not been able to handle the dichotomy that work and personal life put then in. However, Himani asserts that it is a balanced way of working towards goals that matters the most, “My work is my passion, but I cannot have my aspirations overruling my duties. I always try to strike a balance between my work and family. Never has it happened that because of any particular assignment, my responsibilities towards my family has gotten affected and vice versa” She concluded.
