
Popular video conferencing app Zoom witnessed sudden growth in its user base because of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. All classes, meetings and conferences are now held online. However, this app is blamed for breach of privacy and selling the data of its users. Here is how the app is set to change from 30th May 2020:
• From 30th May all the users need to be on version 5.0+ to join any meeting.
• From 30th June, Zoom will have encryption between Zoom Rooms Controllers and Zoom Rooms.
• You should be using the updated operating system on your device- iOS: 4.3.33237.0924, android- 4.3.33237.0925 and Windows- 4.3.13234.0925 to ensure your zoom rooms are running efficiently by 30th June.
• Zoom plans to get more secure by making sure minimum password length is six characters for meetings, webinars and cloud meetings.
• Host and Co-host can report a user who is misusing or misbehaving on the platform.
• ‘Report a user’ is always on by default. However, you can turn it off at the account, group and user level on Zoom’s official website.
• Ending or leaving a meeting will be more easy, safe and secure because of the new UI update, available from 30th May.
• The meeting host will have the option to allow or not allow the participants to show their profile pictures. The host can also prevent them from changing it during the meeting.
• The consent of participant is required by the host before he/she unmutes them.
• When the host leaves, he/she can assign new host.
• The security icon on the meeting will let the lost lock/unlock meetings, enable/disable waiting rooms, in-meeting chats, participant renaming and screen sharing.
• The host can remove and report participants.
