Wimbledon 2021: Frances Tiafoe knocks out Roland Garros finalist Stefanos Tsitsipas 6-4, 6-4, 6-3 to reach the 2nd round of the major event

Frances Tiafoe gets one of the biggest wins of his career, beats third seed Stefanos Tsitsipas in the straight sets 6-4 6-4 6-3 out of Wimbledon men’s singles in the first round as his first victory over an ATP top-5 player.

Wimbledon tournament has returned for the first time since 2019 as the Grand Slam takes to the court at the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club in London, England where Tiafoe became the 1st American man to overcome a top-3 seed at a major since Sam Querrey beat Andy Murray at Wimbledon in 2017. 


Tsitsipas played his first match after the French Open final where he was defeated by Novak Djokovic on June 13 of the Roland Garros tournament.

The Court was filled with around 6,000 fans where Tiafoe, a confident and aggressive opponent broke serve in the initial time of the game while Tsitsipas struggled. He went 5-4 ahead in the second set after Tsitsipas two break points saved. The American overcame once again in the third set start and had three match points on the opponent Tsitsipas.
