Wimbledon 2020: Matteo Berrettini reaches in the fourth round, Kyrgios forced to retire due to injury

Seventh seed Matteo Berrettini reaches the fourth round of Wimbledon with a victory in four sets over Slovenian Aljaz Bedene 6-4 6-4 6-4 and builds up his position as a genius tournament title contender. Meanwhile, Felix Auger-Aliassime also advanced to the fourth round after Nick Kyrgios was forced to retire following an injury.

The 25-year-old used his forehand perfectly and successfully served against Bedene of Slovenia. The clash between the two was delayed on Court three by 90 minutes because of rain.

The absence of Rafael Nadal, who withdrew from Wimbledon a week before its start after being exhausted from games he played in the French Open as he needed some rest and Dominic Thiem who was forced to retire from the tournament due to an injury to his wrist, then French Open finalist vs Djokovic, Stefanos Tsitsipas who exited early, can be really in favour for the Italian, Berrettini at the All England Club.

The Italian who hit 19 aces and totalled 37 winners, broke Bedene’s serve once in each of the three sets and stayed strong while he faced just two breakpoints in the second set against the veteran who was behind the position to become the first Slovenian man to reach the fourth round of a Grand Slam. Berrettini will now face Belarusian Ilya Ivashka next.
