US Open: Daniil Medvedev overcomes Dutch Van de Zandschulp to reach the last four of the Grand Slam event

The World no. 2 beats the Dutch professional Zandschulp to get into the semifinals of the US Open 2021 on Tuesday night.


Daniil Medvedev has reached into the last four of the US Open 2021 after defeating Dutch professional tennis player named Biotic Van de Zandschulp in the quarterfinals on Tuesday night in Arthur Ashe Stadium. The four-set game ended with a scoreline of 3-1, as a Russian tennis player winning and registering himself for the semifinals of the US Open 2021.

Daniil Medvedev was the favourite to win the game as he is currently in the 2nd position of the World Association of Tennis Professionals Rankings. The 25-year-old Russian professional was dominating this game since the start. He took an early point and won the first set with ease. Dutch professional was not looking sharp and thus lost 3-6 in the first one. Throughout the second set, World No. 2 Daniil Medvedev didn’t let Zandschulp take a single point from him. The second set was finished with a scoreline of 6-0.

Despite losing in the first two sets, the 25-year-old BBioticVan de Zandschulp didn’t raise his hands, he played very well and gave a very tough competition to the World’s No. 2. The Dutch professional won the third set by 6-4. The game went to the fourth and it was Medvedev who took first points. The fourth set was also very tight as one-by-one they both were taking points. But having scored 13 aces in the whole match, the Russian showed why he is ranked so higher in ATP and clinch the victory in the fourth set by 7-5. This victory has made Medvedev, the semifinalist of the US Open 2021. It is Russian’s third straight semifinals in the tournament.
