The young and stellar British tennis star, Emma Raducanu has decided to pull out of the Kremlin Cup in Moscow. This news report came after her second-round loss at the Indian wells tournament. According to a report of Times of India, the British media has confirmed her absence from the tournament which commences in Moscow next week.
She won the US Open champion last month and became the first British woman to win a grand slam since 1977. This was her first match since she won the title at Flushing Meadows. While playing at Indian Wells she suffered a second-round loss to Aliaksandra Sasnovich of Belarus. It was a 6-2 and 6-4 straight-sets defeat after which Raducanu addressing the situation in the post-match interview pointed out that it was indeed a disappointing defeat. However, she decided to cut herself slack as she was coming to terms with her new life as a grand slam champion.
Although there is no immediate reason provided by Raducanu, there was a press release from British Media, in which she said, “Unfortunately I’ve had to make a tournament schedule change and won’t be able to play at Moscow this year.” She assured her fans of two things though, firstly The US Open champion told them that she will continue her touring in a couple of weeks. Also, that she is very keen to play in Russia and looks forward to doing that in the coming year’s tournament that too in front of a full crowd.
Raducanu will be seen in action in Romania and Austria before the end of the season.
