The American legendary tennis star announced her retirement in a cover story with Vogue that stated that US Open is going to be the event where she plays as a professional tennis star for the last time.

Meanwhile, Jabeur’s performance leading up to the Grand Slam has been a little concerning because, throughout the US Open Leg Series, she only made it to one quarterfinal. She began in San Jose, where she lost to Veronika Kudermetova in the quarterfinals, and then withdrew due to an injury mid-match in the Canadian Open against Qinwen Zheng. She had one final appearance before the US Open in the Cincinnati Open, where she was defeated in the third round by eventual runner-up Petra Kvitova in three sets.
