The Spaniard started his 2022 season with a trophy at ATP Summerset followed by a historical 21st Grand Slam win at the Australian Open 2022. He then clinched the Mexican Open title before losing in the final as his first loss at the Indian Wells Masters at the hands of Taylor Fritz. The Spanish professional then took a break and was back on clay in Italy, Rome.

The 22 times Grand Slam champion, Nadal, after getting a walkover from Alexander Zverev in the semifinals said that he will be taking a break from tennis for his foot after the French Open 2022 final and won’t be appearing at this year’s Wimbledon championship.
