The 126th edition of the Roland Garros tournament has come to an end with its final in the women’s singles category on June 4 ahead of men’s singles on June 5. Iga Swiatek and Coco Gauff have made it to the final of the Grand Slam in Paris, France. While Swiatek reaches her second Grand Slam final, Gauff makes it for the first time and becomes the youngest player to do so since Maria Sharapova 2004 when she was 17 years old won the Wimbledon championships.
Swiatek came past Daria Kasatkina while Gauff defeated Martina Trevison, both in straight sets to fix the battle of title. Both will be meeting for the third time in their professional WTA career where the Pole leads the head to head with 2-0 as she has never been beaten by the American. The last time the net was at this year’s Maimi Open tournament. The 21-year old World No. 1 Swiatek is a heavy favourite as her record on clay this season has been outstanding. She has extended her winning streak to 34 matches, equal to Serena Williams and one win away from equalling Venus Williams’s 35.
Swiatek will be looking forward to bagging her second Grand Slam while Gauff excited for her first this Saturday, June 4.
