U.S Open champion Medvedev has reached the 4th round of Indian Wells with a 6-2 7-6 (1) victory over Filip Krajinovic on Monday and reached 50 wins this season. The number 2 player in the world wasted no time after the delay and showed his class that he earned during the Grand Slam title last month. Krajinovic tried to make a comeback and was halfway there with a set lead of 4-2 nut Medvedev was already set and dominated the whole game.

Medvedev despite the bad weather was still able to connect on his 70% of first serves and fired four aces.

On the other hand, Karolina Pliskova who is the top seed was defeated by Beatriz Haddad Maia. She was able to get into the main draw as a lucky loser. She was defeated in the final round of qualifying and was only able to get in when Nadia Podoroska was out due to a thigh injury. Maia was able to get bye for the first round and then was up against Mayir Sherif in the second round and was able to come with a win. For the first time, the Brazilian ranked 115th was in the round of 16 at a WTA event.

Pliskova on a windy day at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden held a serve to tie the 2nd set by 5-5, but Hadad Maia held and kept her composure and was finally able to wrap up the game and mark this as her second career win over a top-5 player.
