Aryna Sabalenka the world number two defeated Wang Xinyu of China 1-6,6-4,6-2 as she advances into the third round of the Australian Open.
The number 2 Aryna Sabalenka had many double faults in the first set of the game against China’s Wang Xinyu which cost her the set and lost 6-1 in the opening set of the match and was not looking up to the mark as she has been in the past. She was on a verge of crashing out of the second round of the Australian Open but recovered in the second set to bounce back and win the second set 6-4 which was fought very well by Xinyu.
The 100th rank Xinyu had more aces in the game than Sabalenka and was giving a tough fight to the Belarusian in the match. In the second set, Sabalenka got her nerves back and it was a shaky start for Wang. In the 10th game of the second set, Sabalenka was serving for the set where she gained momentum and won the second set.
As the match progressed into the third set Sabalenka was getting back to her original form and was making fewer errors and was dominating the game as she broke Xinyu’s serve two times in a row and eventually ended the set at 6-2 and booked her ticket for the third round of the Australian Open.
She will have to face Marketa Vondrousova (31st seed) of the Czech Republic in the round of 32.
