Indian Tennis star Rohan Bopanna and his Japanese partner Ben McLachlan exits from Australia’s Open 2021’s first-round after getting defeated by South Korean wild cards Ji Sung Nam and Min-Kyu Song in straight sets.
On Wednesday in Melbourne Rohan played his first match of men’s doubles with his partner which does not turn in their favor and they lost both the sets. However, they both get paired for the first time in men’s double which also could be one of the reasons for the defeat.
Bopanna was earlier scheduled to paired with Joao Sousa who was unable to make the trip down under due to the Covid-19 contract. While McLachlan’s South African partner Raven Klassen also pulled out due to Covid-19.
The newly formed duo got a slow start and the Korean pair jumped into attack from the very start. However, the duo managed to understand each other in a few minutes and came close to the Korean set score with 5-4 but the opponent did extremely well and took the lead of 6-4 to win the set.
The second set saw a tiebreaker when both pairs stand with 6-6, which shows the dedication of the newly formed pair. But Korean duo shows the perfect game in the tie-breaker and clean swept the Bopannaa-Ben duo.
Despite the loss, Rohan Bopanna is expected to return in mixed doubles – the draws for which will be announced later.
