UEFA to declare the move of Champions League final away from Russia tomorrow

UEFA setting up to move its Champion League Final 2022 away from Saint Petersburg Stadium, Russia.

The Union of European Football Associations (UEFA), has set to move its Champions League Final which was to be held in St. Petersburg on May 28.

Following the ongoing war crisis between Russia and Ukraine, UEFA shifted its final away from Russia. The stadium was known as the Gazprom Stadium after the sponsorship deal with Russia’s state energy company. The 68000 capacity arena, after being awarded to host the finale event, has to draw its plans.

On Friday, February 25, 2022, UEFA president Aleksander Ceferin has called for an extraordinary meeting of Executive meeting to evaluate, manage and take all the required decisions.

The ongoing Russian invasion of Ukraine has led the governing body of European Football to act upon its decision of moving the UEFA final out of Russia.

“As the governing body of European football, UEFA is working tirelessly to develop and promote football according to common European values such as peace and respect for human rights, in the spirit of the Olympic Charter. We remain resolute in our solidarity with the football community in Ukraine and stand ready to extend our hand to the Ukrainian people.
We are dealing with this situation with the utmost seriousness and urgency. Decisions will be taken by the UEFA Executive Committee and announced tomorrow.” -UEFA

Though many press sources have confirmed the movement of the Uthe CL final, UEFA is yet to confirm the decision which will be soon announced after the meeting on Friday. Following UEFA’s decision will also confirm the new venue for the UCL final 2022.
