It’s official, Tottenham Hotspur has reached an agreement with the Italian coach Antonio Conte. They have signed an 18-month contract with an option to extend. According to Sky Sports, the Spurs Chairman Daniel Levy was in conversation with Conte, even before the sacking of Santo was announced on Monday.
The 52-year-old previously has managed another London-based club, Chelsea, and procured results. With them, he won the 2016-17 premier league, followed by the FA cup next year. Also, he won the Serie A last season with Italian club Inter Milan, before parting ways. Talking about his move on the Tottenham website Conte said, “I am extremely happy to return to coaching and to do so at a premier league club that has the ambition to be a protagonist again.” He further also explained why because of his emotional departure from Inter Milan, he couldn’t commit to the Tottenham job which was proposed to him at that time. He felt that it “wasn’t yet the right time to return to coaching.”
Antonio Conte about Spurs: “Last summer our union did not happen because the end of my relationship with Inter was still too recent and emotionally too involved with the end of the season, so I felt that it wasn’t yet the right time to return to coaching”. ⚪️ #THFC

Conte departed from Inter by mutual consent after winning the League with them. It was Inter’s first title in 11 years, previously, the Italian had won the Seria A with Juventus on 3 occasions. At Spurs, he will also get reunited with Fabio Patricio, who is the chairman of the club, and had a similar role at Juventus during Conte’s tenure with the Italian club. Together they will be expected to take Tottenham Hotspur to new heights.
