Thomas Tuchel could be back managing PSG

Tuchel could become next PSG manager as the club has been rumoured to find solutions to their poor form.

There have been recent reports that former Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) manager Thomas Tuchel could be in line for a shock return to the French capital, following the dismissal of his successor, Mauricio Pochettino. Tuchel led PSG to a domestic treble in the 2019-20 season before being surprisingly sacked just months later, and his potential return would undoubtedly generate a lot of interest.

Tuchel is a highly respected coach in European football, having made his name during successful spells at Mainz and Borussia Dortmund in Germany before moving to PSG. During his time in France, Tuchel earned a reputation for his tactical acumen and ability to get the best out of his players. He also led PSG to the UEFA Champions League final in 2020, where they were narrowly beaten by Bayern Munich.

While Tuchel’s departure from PSG was unexpected, it was widely reported that he had fallen out with the club’s sporting director, Leonardo, over transfer policy and the handling of certain players. It remains to be seen whether those issues have been resolved, and whether Tuchel would be willing to return to a club that previously dismissed him.

If Tuchel were to return, he would inherit a PSG squad that is arguably even stronger than the one he left behind. The likes of Neymar, Kylian Mbappe, and Lionel Messi are among the world’s best attacking players, while the likes of Marquinhos, Presnel Kimpembe provide a solid core in defence and midfield.
