As Marco Asensio’s Real Madrid contract is coming to an end, and it seems unlikely that he will stay at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu much longer, he may be given the option to leave the Clasico rivalry and join Barcelona in the summer of 2019.
Asensio will be free to transfer to any club he chooses after the current 2022–23 season. Barcelona is reportedly interested in the Spaniard because of his age, adaptability, and his overall quality, according to El Mundo Deportivo. “Barcelona are taking Asensio into consideration due to his age, his ability, and his tactical adaptability,” they reported. It was also asserted on Onda Cero’s Radio Estadio Noche that the club already desired the Spaniard ahead of him joining the 14 times Champions League winners Real Madrid.
British publications such as the Daily Mail and The Sun have reported similar stories, stating that the Blaugrana are readying a shock swoop for the forward.
Asensio is 26 and has scored 50 goals in 239 Real Madrid appearances since he arrived from Real Mallorca in 2015.
