The Spanish Defender has been the most fierce rival of Lionel Messi in La liga as well as the European competition as both the clubs battled for dominance.
Sergio Ramos on Wednesday said that Lionel Messi should be allowed to decide his own future at Barcelona as the Argentine forward is looking for ways to get out the door from Barcelona and seek a different challenge elsewhere.
Ahead of the UEFA Nations league clash with Germany Ramos said that, ” He has earned the right to decide his future. I don’t know if he is doing it in the best way. For Spanish Football, for Barca and for us who like to beat the best, we would like him to stay.”
Both the players have reached the pinnacle of the Club Football with numerous titles and trophies to their name and have shared the La liga title uninterrupted over the last 16 seasons, the 34-year old centre back said the departure of one of the greatest ever player would be a big blow for the Spanish Football.
Messi who has been at Barcelona from the age of 13 is in a legal battle with the club over his transfer clause which the club states the a fee of 700 million euros has be made for the switch to any other team, Messi previously missed the team training the first training session under new coach Ronald Koeman, also in a move to make proceedings smooth for the transfer Messi’s father who is also his representative held a meeting with Club officials and President Josep Bartomeu, the situation is still not clear about the transfer but Messi has expressed his desire to leave the club and a move away from Barcelona looks like a reality and comes as a major blow for Barca fans and Spanish Football.
