Harry Kane and Heung-Min Son level the all-time Premier League record

The Spurs duo combine yet again to equal PL record.

Kane and Son wrote their names into the books of the Premier League on Saturday after combining to shock league leaders Manchester City in a 3-2 win.

The duo combined yet again for Spurs’ second goal against City, which took their total goal involvements to 36. They equaled Chelsea legends Frank Lampard and Didier Drogba’s record which was set a few years ago. Behind the Chelsea duo are Manchester City heroes, Sergio Aguero and David Silva, who combinedly scored a total of 29 goals.

Before setting up Kane, Son assisted new signing, Dejan Kulusevski, following a blistering solo run. His second assist and Kane’s first goal of the game took their contribution to 36.

While it was only the second time the duo combined for a goal this season, they had set the record for most goal contributions in a single season in the 2020/21 season with a total of 14 goals. Behind them was the iconic duo of Shearer/Sutton who scored 13 goals in the 1994/95 season. This consistency amongst the two of them shows why they are at the very top.

It is no surprise that this feat was achieved by these two as they kept training and working together on and off the pitch for months to reach this record. Kane told Sky Sports on his link-up with Son for his first goal, “We had a lot of preparation obviously. We connect really well and have a great understanding off the pitch.”

Amongst a lot of positives Antonio Conte brought to this Spurs side, reviving this goal scoring duo was one of the main ones. Their partnership, like it did in the past, is very crucial to where Spurs finish in the league as their defence is sub-optimal and competition is tough.
