Footballing Legend Diego Maradona passes away aged 60

The Argentinian breathed his last in Tigre, Buenos Aires, Argentina.

One of the greatest footballers of all time and an icon of the game Diego Maradona unfortunately passed away today due to a cardiac arrest. Two weeks ago he had undergone a surgery to remove a blood clot in his brain.

He is regarded as one of the greats of the game, particularly because he led his nation Argentina to a World Cup victory in 1986. Maradona also won the Golden Ball (best player award) that campaign. He was also known for scoring the infamous ‘Hand of God’ goal.

Known for his dribbling skills, low centre of gravity, creativity, vision and pace, Maradona inspired a generation of footballers.

He was the coach of Argentine Primera División club Gimnasia de La Plata from 2019 until his death.
