DFB Pokal: Erling Haaland scores a hat-trick in the first game of the season

Borussia Dortmund has started its German Cup defence after beating third-division team Wehen Wiesbaden. Erling Haaland scored a hat-trick and kicked off his season with a win.

Erling Haaland, Borussia Dortmund forward, scored a hat-trick in his first game of the campaign. He kicked off the season in style. The German side won against SV Wehen Wiesbaden 3-0 and have begun their German Cup defence. There was no other name on the scoresheet except Haaland. Haaland scored 41 goals in 41 games for Borussia Dortmund last season. He is known for his goals.

Dortmund was without many of their first-team players. Mats Hummels, Julian Brandt, Raphael Guerreiro and Emre Can, weren’t playing this game as these players had fitness issues. Dortmund was also without Jadon Sancho, who has joined Premier League side, Manchester United this summer. Despite missing some of the important first-team players, Erling Haaland helped his side to get the win against the third-division team.

Since the transfer window is open, the Norwegian striker is the prime attention of all the big clubs. Clubs like Manchester United, Manchester City, Chelsea, Real Madrid, Barcelona and many other big clubs are looking to have him in their teams. Chelsea was heavily linked with the 21-year old this summer, also they attempted to sign him. But after the match, Dortmund forward said in an interview to SPORTBILD, “I’m proud to be part of this club. I’m proud of being part of Borussia Dortmund.”
