Chelsea beat Crystal Palace to set FA Cup final against Liverpool

Chelsea sealed their spot in the FA Cup final.

Chelsea will play in their third FA Cup final in a row on Easter Sunday, thanks to goals from Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Mason Mount. Despite overcoming Real Madrid 3-2 at the Bernabeu Stadium on Tuesday night, Chelsea lost their Champions League title, exiting the competition 5-4 on aggregate after extra time. Chelsea struggled to establish their customary stride against Patrick Vieira’s well-organized and skilful Eagles as the fourth period of extra time in a busy season took its toll. In the 65th minute, Loftus-Cheek popped up with a thunderous drive just as Vieira’s men were about to threaten an upset. Loftus-first Cheek’s goal for Chelsea since a 1-1 Europa League draw with Eintracht Frankfurt on May 9, 2019. 11 minutes later, Mount immediately grabbed onto Timo Werner’s inside the ball and tapped home to double their lead. In the late second half,’ substitute striker Romelu Lukaku hit the post from close range, but the miss was unimportant at that time.
