The gold medalist of the Badminton Singles SL3 event, Pramod Bhagat, and his partner Palak Kohli in the Mixed Doubles SL3 – SU5 has lost the Bronze Medal match on Sunday. It was the last chance for the Indian para-badminton player, Palak Kohli to win a medal in the 2020 Tokyo Paralympic Games but a loss in her last event has taken her far from a medal.
Palak Kohli and Pramod Bhagat both also were competing in their respective events in this year’s Paralympic Games. Pramod on Saturday made every Indian proud by clinching a gold medal in the Badminton Singles SL3 event. Whereas Palak Kohli was in Women’s Singles SU5 where a loss in the quarter-final match against the Japanese Kameyama gets her nowhere near a medal. After the Indians were defeated in the Mixed Doubles SL3 – SU5 semifinal match on Saturday they were scheduled to play in the Bronze Medal match on Sunday morning against the Japanese players Fujihara and Sugino.
The #IND duo fall short of #Bronze in a tight encounter, as #JPN's Daisuke Fujihara & Akiko Sugino win 23-21, 21-19 and claim third spot in the Mixed Doubles (SL3-SU5) #ParaBadminton event. 👏
And with that #IND's #Paralympics journey comes to an end. 🔥 https://t.co/3hXi3drvrF

Palak and Pramod lost both sets in the match and finished 4th in the event. However, even after getting lost, both sets were too close. They lost the first one with a very close margin of 23-21. The second set was indeed interesting as both the team were together in respect of the points. Indian para-badminton players were able to equalize the score but didn’t lead even a single time in the game. Thus, this costs Palak and Pramod a medal.
