Tokyo Paralympics: Avani Lekhara wins bronze to become the first Indian woman with two medals at the Paralympic Games

Avani Lekhara, the Indian Para rifle shooter has won another medal in the Tokyo Paralympic Games 2020. She won bronze in the Women’s 50m rifle 3 positions shooting event.

Avani Lekhara has again put a medal in India’s bag in this 2020 Tokyo Paralympics Games. The Indian para rifle shooter won a bronze medal in the Women’s R8 – 50m Rifle 3 positions SH1 final event which took place on Friday. Earlier in these Paralympic games, Avani also won a gold medal for India in the Women’s R2 – 10m air rifle SH1 event. After clinching another medal, She becomes the first Indian woman to win two medals at the Paralympics.

Avani Lekhara has made the nation proud again in the same Paralympics by her amazing efforts to clinch another medal for her country. At the start of this 50m rifle shooting event, she was looking confident. The Indian Para shooter finished in the 2nd rank just after Sweden’s A. Normann in the qualification round. Avani’s total points in the qualification were 1176.

In the final event of the Women’s 50m – rifle 3 positions SH1, Avani finished with a score of 445.9, 12 points behind the gold medalist Zhang Cuiping of China and Germany’s silver medalist named Natascha Hiltrop who both were behind the Indian at the end of the qualification round. Indian fans are happy to see this amazing performance of their country’s girl. India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi also tweeted to congratulate Avani for again winning a medal for her country as she made the nation proud by her stupendous performance.
