Gujarat’s six women sportswomen, as a part of the Indian group, who are participants in the upcoming Tokyo Olympics to represent India as well as the Paralympic Games, will get receiving financial assistance of Rs 10 lakh each from the state government as it was declared on Wednesday.

Vijay Rupani Gujarat’s Chief Minister came up with this conclusion to provide Rs 10 lakh each to these six athletes to strengthen their courage and motivate them ahead of the double events, said the government release.
The quadrennial international multi-sport event will be programmed in Tokyo that commences July 23 to August 8 and the Paralympic Games have been organised in the Capital of Japan proceeds from August 24 to September 5.
The players from Gujarat have qualified for the Olympics for the first time in 60 years, said the release. The women athletes who are selected to represent India at the Tokyo Olympics from Gujarat are Maana Patel (swimming), Ankita Raina (tennis), and Elavenil Valarivan (shooting).
Three other women athletes who have privileged the qualifications for the Paralympics are Parul Parmar (badminton), Bhavina Patel and Sonal Patel (table tennis), it said. Chief Minister Vijay Rupani congratulated the participating athletes for their selections and wished them luck ahead of the events.
