PM Modi interacts with Indian Tokyo-bound athletes, wishes them luck

Prime Minister Narendra Modi interacts with India’s Tokyo-bound athletes on Tuesday ahead of the Tokyo Olympics which are set to be started this month of 23rd to August 8.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi interacts with Indian sportspersons on Tuesday who are Tokyo-bound ahead of the Olympic Games which will start this month of 23rd after a year’s uncertainty due to the pandemic situation.

The Union Sports and Youth Affairs Minister Anurag Thakur, Nisith Pramanik and Law Minister Kiren Rijiju also contributed to the interaction. PM Modi on Friday had taken the stock of the rehearsals of India’s Olympics.

“Previously in ‘Mann ki Baat’, I had talked about you and other athletes. After your three Gold medals in Paris, the entire country is conversing about you,” said PM Modi during the interaction with Deepika Kumari and endorses her for the journey. “My journey has been good from the start,” said Deepika.

“You are a winner, but your parents are champions too,” said PM Modi to Pravin Jadhav the archer.

“I have always idolized the Indian Army. After I played for five-six years, I was asked for joining the army. They have empowered me with whatever I desired,” told Neeraj Chopra to PM Modi to which the prime minister replied: “Do not concern about the burden of expectations, just give your best”.

“You are an inspiration to the entire country, the whole of India takes motivation from you,” praised PM Modi to six-time boxing champion Mary Kom. Mary Kom during the interaction said that she takes inspiration from Muhammad Ali and said: “I chose boxing after getting inspired by him”.

PM Modi in a comical way asked PV Sindhu about her diet regulations and reminisces how the coach Gopichand restricted her from taking her phone away and prevent off from having ice cream during the Rio Games.

” All probable help extended to Tokyo-bound athletes through Target Olympic Podium Scheme,” said PM.

“I am convinced that you will make India proud by rising to new heights. You are devoted and athletic. You are the contemplation of new India. You come from all parts of the nation but here you all are part of Team India. This diversity is the mark of ‘Ek Bharat, Shresth Bharat,” added PM Modi.
