The Indian hockey team defeated the Great Britain hockey team, advancing to the Paris Olympics semi-finals. After Amit Rohidas was sent off for an incident with a GB player, India had to play with one man down for 42 minutes, but they won in a penalty shootout.
After Rohidas was sent off, India led 1-0 in the match. Just before the break, Great Britain managed to tie the score to 1-1. By the end of the regulation 60 minutes, neither team had been able to break the tie, despite the heated rivalry. Harmanpreet Singh, the captain of India, eventually sealed the win with a goal from a penalty corner—his seventh Olympic goal in Paris, 2024.
Although the match ended in a 1-1 tie at full time, India advanced to the semi-finals by winning the shoot-out 4-2.
