LeBron James – A throwback to the most pressured athlete ever

In his 19th year, LeBron James is still playing as well as he ever as. Here is a backstory to how much pressure was on LeBron before he even got to the league.

LeBron James is one of the greatest athletes and basketball players the world has ever seen. Even at the age of 37, the King has been playing at the highest of levels despite his team being mediocre. 19 years ago, LeBron James sat down with ESPN and did an interview. He talked about his high school team, working hard, and his determination to be great. Here is a look at LeBron’s journey into the NBA.

LeBron James was one of the most hyped-up prospects in the history of sports. From the cover of Sports Illustrated, anointed the Chosen One and the self-proclaimed ‘King James’. LeBron was compared to Michael Jordan and Magic Johnson when he was only 17 years old! Even after all that hype, LeBron has only exceeded expectations.

When asked about how he felt about being compared to Jordan and Magic 20 years ago, LeBron’s response was,’ It makes me want to work harder.’. He said that he wanted to reach that level and not just be like Jordan and Magic on the court but off the court as well. So far LeBron has done just that. He is the only NBA player to make 1 billion dollars in earnings while still playing in the NBA.

LeBron has also been an active contributor to the community. He has his own I Promise foundation that educates close to 1400 children a year. LeBron James has accomplished all that he set out to 20 years ago and he isn’t done yet. The King is a 4 time MVP, 4-time Champion, 4-time Finals MVP, 18-time All-Star, 3-time All-Star MVP, 17 time All-NBA team member, and 2003-2004 Rookie of the Year.

Despite all the pressure, despite all the criticism, LeBron has only overachieved throughout his career. He is in many people’s eyes the greatest of all time. While this season is a disaster for the King, it would do well to remember all that he has accomplished and continues to accomplish even today.
